The Evil Dead 30th Anniversary

March 19, 2011

Evil Dead 30th Anniversary
It’s been 30 years since it first hit the theatres and it was probably the most scary movie I’ve seen as a teen. And to celebrate that I decided to make a tribute to Sam Raimi, and my personal favorite Bruce Campbell, for their classic horror movie Evil Dead with this poster. I did a different approach than the original but used elements and details from the movie to create this abstract dark theme.

I have posted the whole process over at Behance so if you want to see some of the sketches and early process, have a look!

Late night sketching

Skull sketch
I haven’t been drawing much the past couple of years so I thought it was about time. So the other night I sat down on my couch glancing at what was on the tv and doing some scribbles. Not very long into it I found something I like. This goofy looking skull is the start of it. I haven’t really decided where to take it from here but I have some ideas.

Big Mouth Project
Jonathan Zawada is the man behind this lovely skull for Victorian Workcover Authority via Lifelonuge. As a fan of skulls this is a nice treat. I like the concept and the style of the illustration. Take a look at the whole project in Jonathan’s portfolio.

Stix and Jones made this cool Pit Bull Skull for the Dogtown Show. Swarovski crystals are placed on it as well as covered in layers of gold leaf and gold dust.

“No animals or insects were harmed making this piece”.

Hilarious!

Death by Chocolate

February 2, 2010

Denise Franke from Germany has designed this absolutely awesome packaging for some sweet chocolate. It’s varnished, it’s mythical and a bit Rock ‘n Roll!

“Death By Chocolate is a corporate design and packaging concept for a non-existing chocolate label. It is my final year project in communication design at Folkwang University in Essen.”

If I only could get this at the local candy shop…
